Join us at the Embassy of Argentina on February 7th for the First Friday Art Walk in which we present three exhibitions: “In Between and Beyond”, a new exhibition by Argentine artist Jorge Caligiuri; “From the Ordinary to the Extraordinary-Panoramic Photography”, featuring the work of José Andrés Basbus, and the Permanent Collection.
Jorge Caligiuri’s exhibit at the Embassy opened last December. Through his artwork, he highlights his journey and experiences as an immigrant in the United States, searching for a world of freedom, beyond borders and frontiers. Visitors will be able to speak with Caliguiri, who will be present at this event.
“…The artist explores dramatic and engaging compositions, detaching the image from the two-dimensional aspect of the wooden panel to create three-dimensional assemblages that draw the viewer into his world”, said curator Alfredo Ratinoff.
Visitors will also have a chance to explore the exhibit by Jose Andres Basbus. Basbus has dedicated over 20 years to his photography in addition to being a lawyer and career diplomat. His striking photographs have been internationally acclaimed by www.nikonians.org, and the magazines Photo Techniques, Viva Magazine (Argentina), and Outdoor Photographer. His work has been published in the book Photoshop Restoration and Retouching.
The Permanent Collection, on the third floor of the Embassy, will also be open. A tour of the selected pieces from this special collection shows some of the country’s most significant artistic movements.
