"MOTION", NEW WORKS BY JORGE CALIGIURI

Motion, Jorge Caligiuri’s new works are a series of fresco and encaustic paintings. In this exhibition the primary intention of this body of work is to explore a sense of motion: patterns of movement create a visual experience that deal with repartition of the surface, repetition and texture. The tension between simple elements creates a sense of balance, movement and depth. Jorge’s  works are completely fashioned from plaster, paint and wax. His theme is the interplay between nature, and what man creates in organic environments. Caligiuri’s art is also an external expression of temperament. His paintings reflect a bold struggle with reality: through the potent mixture of colors, geometrical patterns and shapes, we see an artist searching for a world of freedom beyond borders and his work becomes a kind of self portrait.

The opening reception for this exhibit took place on June 10, 2017 at the Watergate Gallery.
